Restaurant

Our Restaurant, situated inside Podere San Bernardo, is available for the guests of the Farm Holidays and for occasional visitors. It is the ideal place for tasting the local food, with dishes cooked using traditional country recipes, seasoned with our Extra Virgin Olive Oil and washed down with a good Tuscan wine.
Here follows a generic description of the menu that we suggest to our guests.

Menu

Starters

  • Sliced ham, lard, Tuscan salami, brawn, etc.
  • Bartalucci (fried leavened dough), fried in-season vegetables, etc.
  • Local olives, sweet-and-sour baby onions, small artichokes in oil, etc.
  • Tasty meat balls with breadcrumbs, mortadella, sausage, etc.

First courses

  • Macaroni of Calci (not the well-known recipe): it was the typical dish for big celebrations at the farmers' houses. The recipe consists in traditional handmade pasta (flour, water, oil and eggs), cut into regular squares, seasoned with a delicate meat sauce.
  • Noodles in wild-boar sauce: homemade pasta, cut into wide small strips, seasoned with wild-boar sauce and black olives.
  • Risotto with mushrooms: a recipe containing rice and a large variety of mushrooms which, once cooked, give a sweet and delicate dish.
  • Hot or cold pastas, seasoned with vegetables and different meat sauce.
  • Vegetarian risotto.
  • Cold farro salad with vegetables, spices and natural flavourings.

Main courses

  • Roast local lamb: roast spare ribs are fried in a delicate egg batter to give a very tasty and appreciated dish.
  • Jugged wild boar: a tasty local dish, cooked with black olives from our Organic Farm.
  • Fried rabbit: another typical dish, served on a bed of squashes, potatoes and artichokes, fried in our organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

  • Shortcrust pastry pies and fruit cakes
  • Homemade ice cream cakes
  • Cantuccini and Vin Santo (tuscan biscuits and a dessert wine, called “La zuppa dei Seghetti”).

  • Tuscan Wine-List.
  • Aperitifs and digestives: the House offers its own bittersweat digestive called “Olisir”, produced only by the Farm Holidays with our organic olives.
